Who can register on GeM

The following legal entities can register on the GeM as seller or service providers:

  • Proprietorship firm
  • Partnership firm
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)
  • Private and public limited company
  • Society registered under the Societies Act
  • Statutory bodies
  • Trust or society that sells goods and services
  • Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) that sells goods or services to government entities

Buyers who can register on the GeM include government departments, organisations, and public sector undertakings.

Aadhaar number will be required for both primary and secondary users.

Documents required for GeM Registration

The following documents are required

    • User’s Aadhaar Number, Virtual ID, or Personal PAN
    • Mobile number linked with Aadhaar/Mobile number in case of PAN
    • Active Email ID
    • Documents as per Constitution/Business type, such as CIN, PAN, DPIIT, Udyam Number, and ITR details to complete profile.
    • Address details (Registered Address)
    • Bank account details
Fees for Gem Portal Registration

Registration on the GeM is free for sellers and service providers. However, AMC (Annual Milestone Charge) & transaction charges may apply based on the order value.

AMC (Annual Milestone Charge)

“Annual Milestone Charge” shall be levied @ 0.5% on all sellers up to INR 20 lakh in each financial year.

Transaction charges
  • All orders valued up to ₹10 Lakh will now attract zero transaction charges, as opposed to the earlier order value ceiling of ₹5 Lakh.
  • Orders above ₹10 Lakh up to ₹10 Crore will be levied transaction charges worth 0.30% of total order value, as compared to earlier transaction charges of 0.45%.
  • Orders above ₹10 Crore will now pay a flat fee of ₹3 Lakh, a massive reduction from the transaction charges previously capped at ₹72.5 Lakh. Exemption from payment of Earnest Money
What is ‘Caution Money’ on GeM
  • Caution money is a one-time deposit that sellers must pay to add products or services and participate in the bid.
  • It is a form of security that ensures the authenticity and discipline of sellers on the GeM portal.
  • It also helps build trust with buyers by guaranteeing that sellers will comply with the platform’s policies and procedures.
Caution Money Fee Breakup
  • Seller Turnover less than ₹1 Crore: ₹ 5,000 (₹ 2,000 if payable after 20.12.24)
  • Seller Turnover >1 Crore but <10 Crore: ₹ 10,000
  • Seller Turnover >10 Crore: ₹ 25,000
